his debut album, society: part one got rave reviews from both the internet and zine circles alike. gajoob magazine, a well-known internet music magazine, rated society: part one an 8 (out of 10) in its review. society: part one earned dead republican a spot as one of the "best recordings of the year" on ram samudrala's music review page. this success was overshadowed by a legal battle that ensued over some the copyrighted material contained in the album's packaging. legal restraints keep us from disclosing the actual details of the lawsuit but dead republican has been cleared of these charges and has been allowed to continue recording.
following the underground success of society: part one, dead republican released dead republican '96 on election day of 1996. This ep was a major success for dead republican scoring some of the best reviews ever. it also earned him major airplay on the 10toes radio show on wtim, a popular realaudio internet radio station. He also earned a featured lofi artist spot on the late toddio's diy lofi info center, an acheivement which dead republican is "most proud of".
