I was born in Thomaston, Maine, my father Robert Levi Clark also born in
Thomaston, his father Enoch Marcus Clark was the town clerk for Thomaston
for many years and much farther back is a Major Stephen Clark. Gray's Clark
Family (described below) states Stephen's grandfather was Daniel Clark of
Windsor, CT. Stephen Clark, Major was born 1724 in Kittery, Maine said to
have been a Captain and Major in the Revolutionery War. There are records
in Rockingham County, New Hampshire which mention his name as one of the
signers to petition William Plummer to Justice of the Peace and again in
1785 then in 1789 transferred two lots in Exeter, New Hampshire to the Phillips
Academy. He died in 12 December 1801, buried in London (or Loudon) Center,
New Hampshire. His wife Sarah Barton was born 1725 in New Market, New Hampshire,
married about 1754 and she died 2 February 1822 in Maine and buried in Union
Common Cemetery by the side of her son, John Clark.
Their children were:
1) Robert Clark, Captain born 28 May 1756 in Epping, New Hampshire married
Mehitable Smith.
2) Stephen Clark born 5 September 1760
3) Josiah Clark born 4 July 1766
4) Ebenezer Clark born 7 June 1768
5) John Clark born 21 April 1770 in Epping, New Hampshire and died 2 February
1817 at Senebec Pond, Union, Maine I have the book Genealogy of the Clark
Family of America, Descended from Major Stephen Clark of Kittery, Maine

TURNER/TILTON/SANBORN
8/29/2000 Ralph J. Turner arty@been-there.com
I would appreciate information on the Loudon Center Cemetery of Loudon,
Merrimack Co., NH. My step grandmother, Maude (Tilton) Turner is buried
there and has a upright granite stone with her and her husband's name: Harry
A. Turner, on it. But I would like to find the lot number, any burial records,
etc. I have a photograph taken before Harry's death date was inscribed,
probably 1964, but not afterward. My grandfather, Harry Allen Turner died
15 Jan 1965 and was cremated. Possibly his ashes were deposited there. I'm
not sure. I am willing to pay for the burial information and/or a photograph
of the stone, if it includes his death date. Separately I would be interested
in connecting Maude Estelle Tilton b 11 Oct 1877, Loudon with her ancestors.
Her father was James S. Tilton and her mother: Ida Blanche Sanborn. The
funeral for Harry was held on 18 Jan 1965 in Reading, MA. The funeral for
Maude was held on 14 Jul 1964, also in Reading, MA. Holder of the deed to
the burial lot is of interest also.
