Aug 23, 1872 Danielson CT; d. Aug 10, 1954 Somerville, MA. She married William Bailey of Boston MA, date and place unknown to me. Thomas H. Brown b. Oct 12, 1874 in Danielson CT. Does anyone have any information on the ancestors of John E. Brown or Sarah E. Cory, or the date and place of their? They and their children lived most of their lives in the CT/RI border area, mostly in Danielson CT. I have some other data which may help identify this group of Browns and Corys. John & Sarah's son George O. Brown was a blacksmith, and I have an iron fork about 18" long which he made by hand for his sister Ellen Frances Brown, my great-grandmother. I also have a photo of him sitting in a buckboard-style wagon, in front of the George H. Call carriage repository and saddlery where he worked. His brother William Sprague Brown was a person of substance in the area. He owned and operated the Attawaugan Hotel in South Killingly for many years. Later on he bacame a farmer. These Browns were all most likely Episcopalians by religion. Ellen Brown lived for a while in Cumberland RI, where she was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. (Possibly she married Arthur Jones there; they had two children, Sara Maude and Walter; Arthur left her within a few years, and I know very little about him.) Ellen moved to Pawtucket RI with her daughter Sarah Maude (Jones) Moreau and son-in-law Harry Moreau, and she joined Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. I have the names Thomas G. Cory, d. May 3, 1876 Foster RI, and Sally J. Cory, d. Foster RI, 1896 - whom I believe to be Sarah E. Cory's parents, but nothing further. I would appreciate a
nything anyone might know about any of these folks.

Gurdon and Sabra had at least one daughter, Emily Mason, who married Benjamin Drew. According to an entry in the "Genealogy and Ecclesiastical History of Farmington, Connecticut", Gurdon Mason was born in Killingly, and I know most of the family lived there for some time.

BURGESS
12 Sep 1999. AlRose509@aol.com Al & Karen (Burgess) Rose
Looking for evidence/advice on BURGESS family of East Kilingly. 1. Burgess genealogy lists Mary AMES as wife of Jacob BURGESS (1769-1830), yet Jacob is buried in East Killingly with his wife Rachel (?) BURGESS (1770-1832). Since we've not been able to find records of EITHER marriage, nor find a death date/burial site or even confirm the existance of a Mary Ames, we are having a heck of a time breaking through this line of maternal ancestry. Do not have a maiden name for Rachel yet. 2. Looking for any information on our ancestor, Waite (Preston) BURGESS, born 1790 and somewhat infamous widow of Welcome BURGESS (1790-1826). we know of the particulars involved with Oliver Watkins who was hanged for his wife's murder in March 1829. what we are looking for is information as to where she went to after leaving the area.

Larrivee, Darby(ie), Lockwood

28 October 1999 LarriveG@ummhc.org Gordon Larrivee
My gggrandparents came from Quebec with the name Larrivee, some of their children born in CT had the name Darby(ie). One child born in NH as a Larrivee was married in Killingly as a Darbie. In this marriage record his mother was listed as Zoa Lockwood. Her name really is Zoe Lacoste dite Languedoc. I am trying to find the link to these names. I see many Darbies and Lockwoods in the Killingly area. Question: did these families take boarders or were they friendly and helpful to the french community. Any information on the Lockwood and Darbie families would be appreciated. I know this is a long shot...

CARPENTER/SMITH
5 Dec. 1999; nicar@erols.com; Margaret M. Carpenter
Stephen and Nancy (SMITH) CARPENTER were married in Ashford, CT on March 25, 1793; they are buried in the Jackson Cemetery at Verona, Oneida County, NY. The Stephen marker has no dates on it; however, Nancy (SMITH) CARPENTER is written 23 June 1769--7 February 1862. In The Carpenter Family in America Book, Mrs. Nancy (SMITH) CARPENTER wrote in a letter for Mr. Jerome Bateman, grandson: "I was born June 23, 1769, and was married March 24, 1792, to Stephen, son of Low Carpenter. He was born February 20, 1772. For three years before my marriage I lived in the family of Low Carpenter at Ashford, Conn. He had a large family. We removed to Killingly, Conn., and from there to Norway, near Newport, Herkimer County, NY., where we arrived in September, 1802. My husband died April 18, 1835." I am trying to find Nancy (SMITH) Carpenter parents. Also, Low Carpenter is Anthony LOW Carpenter, son of Silas. Who did Low marry? A FamilyTreeMaker file says Low Carpenter parents were Silas/Christina Low; born abt 1730; died abt 1806 in Killingly, CT; married Ruth. Any information on Low Carpenter Family of Ashford & Killingly is appreciated. I have not loctated where Low Carpenter was buried.
