With wins at Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Elkhart Lake, and other venues, they excited the youth of America and sparked a boom in interest in sports cars. They were so successful that they (along with Mr. Cunningham) were featured on the cover of TIME magazine (April 26, 1954) Today, they are still the definitive American sports car.

The son of Mr. Cunningham, Briggs Swift Cunningham lll, has revived his father's automobile company and is building his father's 1952 C4R sports cars again, this time in Lime Rock, Connecticut.

Just as it was in 1951, the Cunningham is hand built, with a hand-hammered aluminum body and the innovative Cunningham dual tube chassis. This frame design was, and is, the most rigid ladder chassis ever devised. Once again powered by the 1951/52 Chrysler 331 c.i. HEMI, the continuation Cunningham will be period correct in all respects, so as to be eligible for various vintage racing events.

Our display vehicle is the factory prototype, and is not for sale. It was built specifically for chassis testing and product development. The first customer cars will be built over the next few months.

The prototype was built from photographic information since no drawings survived, but all the customer cars will be built on a station buck that was computer carved from digital information taken from the 1952 Sebring winning car. This is new technology and was not available when work on the prototype was begun.

There are some other differences from the display car that will appear on the first customer cars. They will have the original SIATA transmissions, with internal linkage. The Panhard rod assembly will be exactly like the final version of the team cars, and the customer cars will be fitted with drum brakes, with discs supplied but not mounted.
